Finfinne News Network has been established to be a voice for the voiceless Oromo people. The press is called the fourth branch of the government. The majority in Ethiopia, the Oromo people, have been denied all means of mass communication. The media outlets that have tried to reach the Oromo people have been silenced and their offices shut down by the dictatorial regime in Ethiopia. In the last few months, we started broadcasting to Oromia via satellites and the ruling party has either forced the satellite providers to drop our channel or has jammed their transponders. However, we are not giving up. We are doubling our effort to defeat the regime and make our people's voice be heard. Freedom of speech is a universally granted right and we do not beg this right from anyone.
The Oromo people and their struggle for freedom have been denied a voice. Finfinne News Network is our solution to the ongoing problem of a lack of mass communication. Finfinne News Network has been established as a nonprofit corporation and has brought about ten independent nascent Oromo media organizations based overseas (outside Oromia) under one umbrella. Finfinne News Network will provide these nascent organizations with satellite services so that their transmissions reach Oromia. We are writing to ask you to be a part of the solution.
