It is evident to all that the economic & political situation in Ethiopia and Oromia is getting from bad to worse. The 2018 revolution which shook the foundations of the dictatorial Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) regime, has been skillfully hijacked by the entities yearning for the return of the old political system which privileges certain communities belonging to specific ethnic groups while dehumanizing and impoverishing others. This political order, based on the neftegna-gabbar system and the socio-economic hierarchy imposed on Ethiopia during the imperial era, has proven itself to be virulently intolerant, exclusivist, militaristic, …

Published April 5, 2021, 2:21 a.m. by FNN in English

By Moosisaa Oosaa[1]

If Ethiopia breaks up, which is looking more and more likely with every passing day, the world needs to take note that this state of affairs was initiated NOT by rightly disgruntled nations, nationalities and peoples in Ethiopia putting forward unreasonable demands. Abiy Ahmed and Amhara ethno-nationalist (neo-neftegna) political elites in the center must be held responsible for paving the path to Ethiopia’s very likely violent dissolution by subjecting it to unprecedented ethnic conflicts and internal population displacements in pursuit of hegemony over the fragile state.

Under Abiy Ahmed’s leadership, Amhara ethno-nationalists are challenging the federal …

The purpose of this brief communique is to clarify to all stakeholders what the OLA’s raison d’etre and objectives are. It highlights the rationale for OLA’s continued military engagement with the dictatorial clique currently residing in Menelik’s palace. By now we believe that the international community is aware of the plight faced by the Oromo people throughout history*.

For many it is puzzling why the Oromo people, numerous in number and residing in some of the most resource-rich part of Africa, succumbed to oppression of successive minority regimes. Many possible factors may explain this anomaly. In OLA’s understanding, …

The condition in Ethiopia is deteriorating

Published Jan. 28, 2021, 6:32 p.m. by FNN in English

The political condition in Ethiopia has been deteriorating in the last few months. Since the ruling party ignored the advice of the Oromo Liberation Front and Oromo Federalist Congress for national dialogue and reconciliation and unilaterally postponed the election that was slated to be held at the end of August 2020, it has been frantically running around attacking legally registered opposition parties, particularly the most popular and dominant Oromo Liberation Front. Most of the leaders of the Oromo Liberation Front, such as Colonel Gamachu Ayana, Abdi Ragassa, Lami Benya, Dr. Gada Oljira, Prof. Bayana Ruda,  Dawit Abdata, Michael Boran, Aman …
